How to Compare Performance Across Branches

6 min read·5 December 2025·

Branch comparison only works when scenarios, scoring and evaluator quality are consistent across locations.

Benchmarks should highlight best practice to replicate, not just gaps to fix.

Fair comparison needs consistent method

Branch comparisons are only useful when every branch is measured with the same scenarios, questionnaire, evaluator standards and scoring rules.

Spread visits fairly

Visits should be spread across days, times and shifts so that one bad hour does not define a branch. Busy branches may need more visits to reach reliable results.

Adjust for real differences

Some differences, such as store size or product range, are real. Benchmarks should compare like with like, for example flagship with flagship, or mall stores with mall stores.

Look beyond the ranking

  • Compare behaviours, not just overall scores
  • Identify what top branches do differently
  • Share best practice between branches
  • Track improvement, not just position

Use results for coaching, not blame

Branch rankings motivate when they are fair and paired with support. Share specific examples, recognise improvement and focus coaching where it is most needed.
